Excel Training for Faster Farmers in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire
A joint project by Fastershire, Herefordshire Rural Hub and John Legge Computer Services Limited was started on the 17th October 2017 in Longford, Gloucestershire focusing on the online and Excel requirements for Faster Farmers in the two counties.
A series of five courses are being run in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire for individuals who work in the farming and dairy industries to equip them with IT skills including:
- Excel spreadsheets
- Online access using faster broadband facilities
- Book Keeping skills
John Legge of JPL IT Training Limited, who is delivering all five courses, has put together a varied training programme covering the main aspects of the ever popular Excel package including basic formulas, sorting and collating data, using Excel in accounts and online searches for help.
John says, “these courses will empower those who often run their own businesses or support those of others to feel confident in using Excel to make record keeping easier and their business lives more efficient”
The courses vary in nature and started in October with “beyond the basics” and will run through until January 2018 with Advanced Excel training.
The courses are structured so that each person has access to their own laptop during the course, can take part in guided learning and then individually complete their own tasks. There are also team based exercises allowing the trainees to work together to resolve a problem in Excel.
We were also able to use the internet to access a variety of help features in Excel, look at how to use YouTube and look at the hints and tips JPL provide on their website https://www.jplcomputer.co.uk/hints-and-tips/
